Smartness and agility are two quality measures that are pragmatic to achieve a flexible, maintainable, and adaptable system in any business. The automotive industry also requires an enhanced performance matrix and refinement in the development strategies for manufacturing. The current development models used in automotive manufacturing are not optimal enough; thus, the overall expenditure is not properly managed. Therefore, it is essential to come up with flexible, agile techniques incorporating traceability methods. It overcomes the traditional manufacturing approaches that are usually inflexible, costly, and lack timely customer feedback. The article focuses on significant Requirements Management (RM) activities, including traceability mechanism, smart manufacturing process, and performance evaluation of the proposed methods in the automotive domain. We propose a manufacturing framework that follows smart agile principles along with proper traceability management. Our proposed approach overcomes the complexities generated by traditional manufacturing processes in automotive industries. It gives an insight into the future manufacturing processes in the automotive industries.

The developmental paradigm in the software engineering industry has transformed from a programming-oriented approach to model-oriented development. At present, model-based development is becoming an emerging method for enterprises for constructing software systems and services most proficiently. In Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) Level 2, i.e., Managed, we need to sustain the bi-directional trace of the transformed models for the administration of user requirements and demands. This goal is achieved by the organization after applying the particular practices suggested by CMMI level 2 process area of Requirements Management (RM). It is very challenging for software developers and testers to maintain trace, particularly during the evaluation and upgrading phases of development. In our previous research work, we proposed a traceability framework for model-based development of applications for software enterprises. This work is the extension of our previously presented research work in which we have anticipated the meta-model transformations according to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). These meta-models are capable of maintaining the trace information through relations. The proposed technique is also verified using a generalized illustration of an application. This transformation practice will give a foundation to software designers to maintain traceability links in model-driven development.

Sketching is an important activity in software development projects and has many advantages over strict formal languages, especially in cross-functional teams with different technical background. Sketches are used to develop all kinds of diagrams, providing a different view on the application and the underlying business logic. Several tools have been developed in recent years to support sketching activities, especially in the area of UI prototype sketching. Sketches are used to quickly develop a first impression of future UIs, helping designers, engineers, and domain experts to gain a common understanding of layout and dialog flows. Unfortunately, UI sketching tools focus on a single application aspect -the UIand do not take business processes, technical data structures, and their relationships into account. We demonstrate how UI, business process, and technical diagram sketches can be interconnected in an augmented team room.
