The objective of this study is to analyze the possibility of Thermography aid predictive maintenance to detect mechanical failures in rigid a career unshielded ball bearings. Therefore, eight samples were prepared containing various flaws in the tracks of the inner and outer rings of the bearings. Subsequently, each bearing sample was coupled to a bearing with the shaft and motor, positioned on the inertial table. Then the qualitative and quantitative thermography measurement probes associated with the collection of mechanical vibration data were prepared. The results show that it is possible to see the temperature variations associated with mechanical failures introduced compared to records timefrequency vibration spectrum.

The main objective of this paper is to determine the effect of outer race defect of deep groove ball bearings for (SKF 6004) through experimental and numerical methods. Three-dimensional finite element model of the housing and outer race is simulated using commercial package ABAQUS/CAE. Angular position of the local defect on the outer race which changes from 0 to 315 with angular intervals 45 is investigated through the dynamic finite element model. Experimental results are obtained using bearing test rig to validate the simulated results. A good agreement is found between the results obtained by the finite element model and the experimental results.

Processing of high-precision ceramic balls with a spiral V-groove plate

As the demand for high-performance bearings gradually increases, ceramic balls with excellent properties, such as high accuracy, high reliability, and high chemical durability used, are extensively used for highperformance bearings. In this study, a spiral V-groove plate method is employed in processing high-precision ceramic balls. After the kinematic analysis of the ball-spin angle and enveloped lapping trajectories, an experimental rig is constructed and experiments are conducted to confirm the feasibility of this method. Kinematic analysis results indicate that the method not only allows for the control of the ball-spin angle but also uniformly distributes the enveloped lapping trajectories over the entire ball surface. Experimental results demonstrate that the novel spiral Vgroove plate method performs better than the conventional concentric V-groove plate method in terms of roundness, surface roughness, diameter difference, and diameter decrease rate. Ceramic balls with a G3-level accuracy are achieved, and their typical roundness, minimum surface roughness, and diameter difference are 0.05, 0.0045, and 0.105 mm, respectively. These findings confirm that the proposed method can be applied to high-accuracy and high-consistency ceramic ball processing.
