ESR, optical absorption and reflection spectra of monoclinic and triclinic modifications of lead phthalocyanine

Abstract: In single crystal as well as in polycrystallic samples of lead phthalocyanine of monoclinic and triclinic modification ESR signals are observed and their nature investigated. Structural change from monoclinic to triclinie modification of PbPc at 300 °C is observed. Optical absorption spectra within 200 to 1100 nm and 400 to 5000 cm−1 ranges are obtained. In μ‐PbPc thin films an anomalously wide and intense band due to intramolecular charge transfer is observed. IR reflection spectra of μ‐PbPc within the 400 to… Show more

“…These experimental results were the same as those reported previously. [36][37][38] Particularly, Miyamoto et al have also reported that the monoclinic crystalline lm of PbPc changes its crystalline form to the triclinic system by annealing through the detailed investigation. 36 The present calculation results with the model dimers represented well all of the experimental results.…”

“…In this case, the optical properties of Pc shell are different from the ones of Pc monomers but near the same as properties of the phthalocyanine thin films. It is well-known that the phthalocyanine thin films have typical dependences of absorbance on the wavelength. Namely, their UV–vis spectra exhibit two distinct peaks corresponding to the H-type aggregation: the first is associated with an aggregate phase (λ 1 ≈ 580–620 nm), while the second one is attributed to the phthalocyanine macrocycle (λ 2 ≈ 680–720 nm).…”
