The behaviour of a dise-shaped dieleetric resonator made of sintered alumina and working in the Whispering Gallery Mode (WGM) has been studied in the frequeney interval from about 8 up to about 26 GHz. Many equidistant resonanees have been deteeted in this frequeney interval eaeh of which being eharaeterized by a satisfactory Q-value due to the very good self-confinement of the microwave field which is typieal of WGM propagation. Particular eare has been devoted to the optimization of the eoupling between the resonating dise and the mierowave souree. Examples of ESR speetra obtained on each of the deteeted resonanees are reported which show the variation of the lineshape with the inerease of the frequeney. The obtained results allow one to foresee that the same dielectric dise can be used for ESR spectroscopy also at frequeneies much higher than those up to now exploited.
