Abstract-This study reports on a small-scale study exploring the effects of using corpora in the process of revising essays in English as a foreign language (EFL). 30 undergraduate students from two College English Classes in China participate in the experiment. The BFSU CQP web is used for assisting experimental group to correct the lexico-grammatical errors in writing. The findings reveal that corpora as reference resources are more helpful than the online dictionary in helping learners make accurate corrections and reduce errors in free production. The following questionnaires indicate that participants generally show positive attitudes toward corpus use in writing. However, there are also some challenges to overcome while using corpora such as too much time spent in analyzing data, too many examples in the concordance lines and so on. These findings suggest the need for more well-planned corpus-based activities to help learners benefit as much as possible from corpora-assisted learning.

Undoubtedly, CD-ROM dictionaries assist in removing the fear of inadequacy in language usage and ameliorating the panic of being-on-the-spot especially with the rapid development of information technology. This research was conducted to find out whether there is a relationship between pre-service TESOL teachers' attitudes towards using CD-ROM dictionaries and certain criteria (perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, functions and multimedia content). The theoretical framework for the study was drawn from TAM model. A modified questionnaire was utilised with employing a mixed-method approach using two sampling techniques (Purposive and Random) to pre-service TESOL teachers. The finding exposed a positive significant correlation between attitudes towards using CD-ROM dictionaries and criteria. A further finding exhibited that the CD-ROM dictionaries do assist learning the four main language skills (reading, writing, listening and speaking) and the subsidiary skills (grammar, punctuation and pronunciation).

DDL in L2 Writing in China—A Retrospect and Prospect

This paper reviews papers, in the field of DDL (Data Driven Learning) in L2 (second language) writing, published in international journals and in Chinese journals. Specifically, it compares the journals published in China with journals published internationlly, aiming to inform DDL in L2 writing in the context of China. Differences are found in research methodology, research perspective, and research realm. It is proposed that DDL in L2 writing needs to be localized taking Chinese learners' characteristics into consideration, to inform L2 writing research and teaching in China. Furthermore, empirical research needs to be conducted to discuss DDL in writing teaching.Therefore, future research may seek to localize DDL teaching and research in China.
