The main purpose of this research is to analyze the current place of the Afro-American episteme in the Colombian university. Several factors came together to deploy this study as the recognition of Afro-Colombian communities by the 1991 Constitution.Given the inclusion of the cathedra of Afro-Colombian studies through an ethnoeducational approach, the diffusion of the cultural riches of these communities is proposed in a curricular way. However, the impact achieved has not allowed a reconfiguration of the traditional principles that determine the development of the social sciences, and consequently of the guidelines of higher education and the university as the institution responsible for these changes.The concept of episteme was revised to analyze the Euro-centric hegemonic incidence that exists in Colombian higher education institutions and to establish the status of knowledge of the African American in relation to other epistemic tendencies. Likewise, the contributions and the way in which the growth of Afro-Colombian studies has taken place were examined. From this point on, the dissemination of these contents in the Colombian university was studied, determining its growth, its difficulties, and its presence at this point in time.Finally, a proposal is presented, it implies an advance in the Social Sciences and offers an alternative to spread more widely the episteme of the African American. This suggestion is summarized into the offer of the Bachelor of Social Sciences, which is under construction and is part of my doctoral studies at the university where I work.
