Abstract:Whole blood oxygen affinity, erythrocyte pH and organic phosphates were studied in five anaemic untransfused patients with end stage renal disease undergoing continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis. Decreased whole blood oxygen affinity with increased adenosine triphosphate and normal 2.3 diphosphoglycerate (DPG) values were observed. Normal and stable serum phosphate and permanent mild metabolic acidosis may be important factors contributing to maintain DPG levels within the normal range despite anaemia. Co… Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
