Erratum: Transient behavior of heat transport in a thermal switch [Phys. Rev. B81, 052302 (2010)]

Abstract: We discovered an error in our code that affected the dynamical behavior of the energy current. In determining the current we numerically calculate several integrals using the trapezoidal rule. The integrals in Eq. (7), however, were numerically calculated incorrectly because of an error (a misplaced division by 2) in the code. This resulted in the current to erroneously decay faster than the correct behavior. The figures for the numerical results in our manuscript should therefore be replaced by Figs. 1-3 show… Show more

“…More recently, deeper issues as memory effects [19] or interplay between multiple time-modulations [20] have been addressed theoretically. Besides, calculation of time-dependent heat current in a linear phonon chain has recently been achieved [21]. However, thermopower dynamics lacks both experimental as well as theoretical investigations.…”

“…With such numerical investigations, it will be possible to go beyond the linear response for the Seebeck and Peltier coefficients, and further determine non-linear thermodynamic laws. Moreover, we shall consider interacting systems in order to analyze phonon bath contribution [21], impact of electron-phonon interaction [11], and to study influence of charging effects in other experiments [24].…”

“…This approach, however, is not applicable to situations where the system is undergoing dynamical changes and is far from the steady-state regime. An example would be the transient behavior of a system where the coupling between the scattering region and the leads is not weak and is switched on abruptly [2]. In addition, the method does not provide any information on how the steady state is dynamically approached from the initial configuration of the system.…”

“…No such explicit expression for current is known for transient states. In recent times, several works [14,15] followed to answer what happens to current in the transient regime. This is an important question both from the theoretical and experimental points of view.…”
