“…Important use of epoxy resin is polymer matrix of fiber‐reinforced plastic (FRP), which is a composite material consisting of synthetic polymers and fibers. Fiber‐reinforced plastics (FRPs) are commercially used in the aerospace and automotive industries, civil construction, and sports equipment . In these applications, mechanical properties of the products are controlled by the interfacial interactions between the adhesive and the surface of adherend material.…”

“…Surface treatment of fiber reinforcements with nanoparticles, on the other hand, could improve the in‐plane, fiber‐dominant properties of laminated composites as well as interfacial adhesion. Some examples of surface treatment are chemical grafting , electrochemical method , plasma treatment , and sizing method . Surface treatment allows for higher loadings of nanoparticles and alleviates the problem of agglomeration commonly observed when nanoparticles are freely dispersed in a matrix.…”

“…Hence, the CF processing performance and production environment have been significantly improved. What's more, it has been well recognized that sizing also plays an important role in improving the interfacial adhesion between fibers and matrix .…”
