Erratum: Incommensurate magnetic structure ofCeRhIn5[Phys. Rev. B62, R14 621 (2000)]

Abstract: The formulas for magnetic cross sections, I and II , have an incorrect prefactor ͑we thank J.-M. Mignot for pointing this out͒, and the square root in the equation for II on page R14 623 should not be there. Therefore, Eq. ͑3͒ on page R14 622 should be replaced byThe equation on page R14 623 and the two sentences after it should be corrected as follows:Thus II (q)ϭ I (q)/2, and model I and model II cannot be distinguished in the diffraction. However, we prefer model I since a collinear magnetic modulation ͑mod… Show more

“…The ordered moment at 1.4 K of µ ord = 0.264(4) µ B is strongly reduced as compared to the moment expected in the CEFs of 0.8 µ B (Bao et al, 2000(Bao et al, , 2003. It spirals transversely along the c-axis, while the nearest-neighbor moments on the tetragonal basal plane are aligned antiferromagnetically.…”

“…While CeCoIn 5 and CeIrIn 5 are unconventional superconductors at ambient pressure (p)with most probably d-wave symmetry below T c = 2.2 K and T c = 0.4 K and suited very close to a QPT, CeRhIn 5 offers the possibility to tune a heavy fermion system from AF to SC as function of pressure [1,2,3]. At ambient pressure CeRhIn 5 orders antiferromagnetically below the Néel temperature T N = 3.8 K in an incommensurate helical structure with propagation vector Q = (1/2, 1/2, 0.297) and a staggered moment of about 0.8 µ B [4]. Neutron scattering experiments under pressure showed that this magnetic structure is almost unchanged under pressure up to the highest investigated pressure of 1.7 GPa [5].…”

“…A good agreement between observed and calculated intensities of Nd 2 RhIn 8 and Dy 2 RhIn 8 is obtained for magnetic moments pointing along the c axis with their parallel alignment within one unit cell and corresponding to 2 . For Er 2 RhIn 8 the fitting procedure showed that the far best agreement is obtained with the model 10 where the magnetic moments in the unit cell lie in the ab plane pointing the same direction. For Er 2 RhIn 8 only reflections within the (−110) scattering plane could be measured, which were not sufficient to determine the exact direction of the moments within the ab plane.…”

“…Moreover, their synthesis does not suffer from inclusions and stacking faults as it is often observed in 218 single crystals. Magnetic order at ambient pressure was found in CeRhIn 5 below T N = 3.8 K. It exhibits similar properties as its 218 analog, but it forms incommensurate (IC) AF structure propagating with a wave vector k = (1/2, 1/2, 0.297) and cerium magnetic moments of 0.75 μ B lying within the ab plane [9,10]. The amplitude of the moment constitutes the major part of a value expected from the crystal-field calculations (0.92 μ B ) [11] which speaks for 4f-localized magnetism.…”
