Recent evidence for direct CP violation in nonleptonic charm decays cannot be easily accommodated within the standard model. On the other hand, it fits well in new physics models generating CP violating ÁC ¼ 1 chromomagnetic dipole operators. We show that in these frameworks sizable direct CP asymmetries in radiative D ! P þ P À decays (P ¼ , K), with M PP close to the or the peak, can be expected. Enhanced matrix elements of the electromagnetic dipole operators can partly compensate the long distance dominance in these decays, leading to CP asymmetries of the order of several percent. If observed at this level, these would provide a clean signal of physics beyond the standard model and of new dynamics associated with dipole operators. We briefly comment on related CP violating observables accessible via time dependent Dð " DÞ ! P þ P À studies and angular decay product distributions in rare semileptonic D decays.

Baryogenesis in the Zee-Babu model with arbitrary ξ gauge

We consider the baryogenesis picture in the Zee-Babu model. Our analysis shows that electroweak phase transition (EWPT) in the model is a first-order phase transition at the 100 GeV scale, its strength ranges from 1 to 4.15 and the masses of charged Higgs boson are smaller than 300 GeV. The EWPT is strengthened by only the new bosons and this strength is enhanced by arbitrary ξ gauge. However, the ξ gauge does not break the firstorder EWPT or, in other words, the ξ gauge is not the cause of the EWPT. This leads to the fact that the calculation of EWPT in Landau gauge is enough; and the latter may provide baryon-number violation (B-violation) necessary for baryogenesis in the relationship with nonequilibrium physics in the early universe.

We investigate new contributions to the neutron electric dipole moment induced by colored scalars. As an example, we evaluate contributions coming from the color octet, weak doublet scalar, accommodated within a modified Minimal Flavor Violating framework. These flavor non-diagonal couplings of the color octet scalar might account for the measured assymmetrytree level. The same couplings constrained by this assymmetry also induce two-loop contributions to the neutron electric dipole moment. We find that the direct CP violating asymmetry in neutral D-meson decays is more constraining on the allowed parameter space than the current experimental bound on neutron electric dipole moment. We comment also on contributions of higher dimensional operators to the neutron electric dipole moment within this framework.
