Ericaria amentacea Algae Extracts: A Sustainable Approach for the Green Synthesis of Silver Oxide Nanoparticles and Their Effectiveness against Leishmaniasis

Fatouma Mohamed Abdoul-Latif,
Ayoub Ainane,
Ibrahim Houmed Aboubaker
et al.

Abstract: In this study, anti-leishmanial activities were performed on silver oxide nanoparticles green synthesized from hexane, ethereal, chloroform, and methanolic extracts of the Ericaria amentacea seaweed. The extracts were obtained using a soxhlet extraction system, and the silver oxide nanoparticles were synthesized through a simple and environmentally friendly method. Physicochemical characterizations, including UV spectrophotometry, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermal gravime… Show more

“…A study conducted by Oliveira et al (2014) [121] assessed the antileishmanial activity of extracts from Cystoseira baccata (Gongolaria baccata) and Cystoseira barbata (Treptacantha barbata), accentuating the impact of the extraction method on this activity, with extracts obtained through hot extraction exhibiting higher activity. Lastly, the study by Mohamed Abdoul-Latif et al (2021) [122] explored the synthesis of silver oxide nanoparticles from Cystoseira amentacea (Ericaria amentacea) extracts, unveiling noteworthy antileishmanial activity and presenting promising prospects for the treatment of leishmaniasis.…”
