Ergonomic intervention to reduce musculoskeletal disorders among flour factory workers

Abstract: BACKGROUND: Work-related musculoskeletal disorders are the most common occupational health hazards. In the flour production industry, the fast pace of work, high frequency of repetitive movements, manual handling of loads, and awkward postures put a lot of pressure on the worker’s body. OBJECTIVE: Given the high exposure of the workers of the flour production industry to ergonomic risk factors, this study aimed to reduce the rate of musculoskeletal disorders among a group of flour factory workers through ergon… Show more

“…Education is one of the most important factors affecting safety and health and thus health promotion, which has been widely studied by other researchers. [ 24 ] The health education approach actually starts from the ground up and advises people to change their behaviour and move in a specific direction that is beneficial to their health. [ 25 ] Health education for workers is in the field of work fatigue, proportion of work environment components with workers, ergonomic risk factors and the correct way of MMH with the aim of preventing MSDs and safe load carrying, which ultimately leads to improved health among workers.…”

“…In the domain of food processing, flour creation holds significance, yet it confronts issues tied to laborer health, notably musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs). Hemati et al (2020) undertook an exploration into these concerns and launched an ergonomically-designed alleviation scheme tailored for the flour creation environment. The scheme didn't limit its focus to just the tactile dimensions; it adeptly amalgamated technical remedies with administrative blueprints for a comprehensive alleviation strategy.…”
