Erector Spinae Plane Block for Different Laparoscopic Abdominal Surgeries: Case Series

Abstract: The ultrasound guided erector spinae plane (ESP) block is a recent block described for various surgeries for postoperative analgesia. ESP block has effect on both visceral and somatic pain; therefore, its use in laparoscopic cholecystectomy and other abdominal surgeries can be advantageous. We describe successful ESP block application in three different cases for postoperative pain. Two patient were operated on using endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography and laparoscopic cholecystectomy and one patien… Show more

“…Based on these principles, there is some evidence that the theoretical risk of clinically significant complications related to bleeding is low and is outweighed by the benefit observed in the patients described 10 . Recently, other authors have reported the efficacy and safety of ESP block for postoperative pain control in breast surgery 11 , thoracotomy 12 , abdominal surgery 13 and even spine fusions 14 in case reports, but to our knowledge, there are no reports for aortic valve replacement surgery.…”

“…When performed between T7-T9 levels, it has been reported to effectively attenuate postoperative pain after different types of abdominal surgeries. [6] Recently, Tulgar et al [7] evaluated the effect of US-ESP for postoperative analgesia in laparoscopic cholecystectomy. Authors reported that US-ESP block significantly reduced pain scores of patients when compared to no-intervention group.…”
