Abstract: The detailed description of thoracic ECD involvement seen in these patients showed that infiltration into the mediastinal spaces including the pericardium, coronary sulci and right atrium is frequently associated with pleural and interstitial lung diseases.

“…As a result, the most frequent cardiovascular evidence is periaortic circumferential tissue infiltration, known as a coated aorta. [7][8][9] The aortic effects and fibrosis can extend from the ascending aorta down to the iliac bifurcation or be limited to the thoracic or abdominal aorta. 5 Unlike Takayasu arteritis and retroperitoneal f ibrosis, ECD infiltrates the periadventitial or perivascular area circumferentially, regularly forming a tissue with the same attenuation as muscle.…”

“…13 Fewer than 45 cases of ECD have been reported in association with coronary artery involvement. 5,8,9,[14][15][16] The cardiovascular manifestations of ECD are being detected more frequently because of improved imaging techniques, indicating that the number of such cases has been underestimated. Currently, the best images and low radiation doses are produced by 256-slice, dualsource MDCT, prospectively ECG-triggered acquisition, and a high pitch value of 3.2 or 3.4.…”

“…Frecuentemente existe compromiso cardiovascular, que puede ser asintomático y detectarse en RM y/o scanner [2][3][4] . Las anormalidades más frecuentes son: a) recubrimiento de la aorta por un manguito de tejido-pudiendo comprometer sus ramas; b) infiltración pericárdica, que puede manifestarse por pericarditis, derrame pericárdico, taponamiento cardiaco o pericarditis constrictiva.…”
