Equilibrium, Kinetic and Thermodynamics Studies of Adsorption of Aniline Blue from Aqueous Media Using Steam-Activated Carbon Prepared from Delonix regia Pod

Abstract: The adsorption capacity of steam activated carbon prepared from Delonix regia pods SADRC for adsorption of Aniline Blue (AB) from aqueous solution was investigated under various experimental conditions. Batch study was conducted to assess the potential of the activated carbon for the removal of Aniline Blue from aqueous solution. Activated carbon prepared from Delonix regia pods was characterized using Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) Spectrophotometry before and after a… Show more

“…During the reaction, pH affects the enzyme activity and ionization degree of the biosorbent. Hydrogen ions act as a bridge between the dye and the surface of the biosorbent [19,20]. As seen in Figure 3, the decolorization rate increases up to almost 70% in the pH range 3-4 and decreases with the increasing pH value.…”

“…[49] The Temkin isotherm is valid only for medium concentrations of ions. The linear form of the isotherm Temkin model is given by the following equation: Ce (mmol.dm 3 ) lnCe Finally, the Langmuir isotherm model is the best match so the most appropriate model is considered to define the isotherm for the adsorption of both RB5 and CR colors with PMNs sorbent for RB5 and CR (figures [11][12][13][14]. The Langmuir model presented RB5 and CR with a strong correlation coefficient R 2 = 0.9999.…”

“…[11] Recently, there has been a lot of interest in the size and shape-controlled synthesis of nano-scaled magnetite. [12][13][14] In this analysis, PMNs were synthesized and identified, as well as the adsorption activity of CR and RB5. [15] Initial dyes concentration, solution pH, PMN dosage, temperature, and contact time were all investigated as factors affecting the adsorption period.…”

“…It makes it possible to equate the adsorbent‘s macroscopic properties with the macroscopic ones (e. g., electronic structure) (i. e., adsorption capacity). Computational investigations [1b,6b, 7] . In several fields, quantum chemical approaches used to elucidate different experimental findings.…”
