EPR‐spectrum of irradiated potassium dichromate single crystals

Abstract: EPR-spectra of X-irradiated potassium dichromate crystals are studied a t various temperatures froin RT to LNT. The most intensive lines are interpreted as due to radicals Cr0:-(A-lines) and CrO; (C-lines), resulting from Cr,O, owing to X-irradiation. Hyperfine structure of C-line, due to interaction of unpaired electron with Cr53 nucleus, occurs at low temperatures, and new unobserved earlier Q-lines appear near-by C-line. The spectrum

“…As it was shown earlier ( ALYBAKOV et al 1978), spectrum consisting of intensive central line with four equidistant weak lines is characteristic of C 3 + , thus one can conclude both C and C' groups of lines to be connected with Cr5+.…”

“…Comparison with the spectra of X-irradiated K2Cr,07 crystal ( ALYBAKOV et al 1978) shows that thermal treatment does not create the centres, responsible for the A and B lines. In previous work irradiated K2Cr2O7 crystals showed no C' lines, but with RE-1306 radiospectrometer these lines are observed with the same intensity ratio (C : C' w 15 : 1) as in an annealed crystal.…”
