EPR pairs, local projections and quantum teleportation in holography

Abstract: Abstract:In this paper we analyze three quantum operations in two dimensional conformal field theories (CFTs): local projection measurements, creations of partial entanglement between two CFTs, and swapping of subsystems between two CFTs. We also give their holographic duals and study time evolutions of entanglement entropy. By combining these operations, we present an analogue of quantum teleportation between two CFTs and give its holographic realization. We introduce a new quantity to probe tripartite entang… Show more

“…In this second part of the lecture I will show you how complex quantum information can be teleported through an ERB [8]. Similar ideas appeared in a very interesting recent paper by Numasawa, Shiba, Takayanagi and Watanabe [14] as well as in earlier work by Marolf and Wall [15]. 7 To be published.…”

“…This would not be described by a physical motion through the wormhole in the bulk. Teleportation in this sense has been discussed in the dual gravity language by [37,40,49].…”

“…In addition we will provide the gravity dual geometry for (ii) splitting local quenches. Refer to [14] for other classes of topology changing quantum operations in CFTs such as projections and partial identifications. Our details geometric analysis clearly will explain the two different sources of logarithmic time evolutions of entanglement entropy observed in the local quenches.…”
