EPPR: blockchain for educational record sharing and recommendation using the Ethereum platform

Abstract: There has been a great deal of discussion of the challenges on privacy, data interoperability and quality of Educational Professional Personal Record (EPPR). Therefore, there is a need to reassess the current models, in which various parties generate, exchange and observe a huge amount of personal data with regard to EPPR. Ethereum blockchain has shown that trusted, auditable transactions is detectible using a decentralized network of nodes accompanied by a general ledger. Thus, due to the fast-moving developm… Show more

“…Li and Han [7] proposed a blockchain-based education record storage and sharing scheme, which combines blockchain, storage server, and encryption technology to create a reliable and secure environment, thus effectively realizing the timely sharing of learning records. Alkouz et al [8] proposed a new decentralized framework, which uses blockchain to manage EPPR, and accesses consumers' education records through education record editors. Ocheja et al [9] deemed that blockchain can provide good technical support for learners' academic data visualization.…”

“…Blockchain ensures transparency, security, and data integrity through cryptographic technology, strong encryption, and consensus mechanisms, making it a reliable solution for a wide range of applications across industries [8]- [10]. In education, blockchain can be used for a range of purposes such as validating academic certificates and transcripts [11], verifying the authenticity of educational certificates [12], building a decentralized education record management system [13], automating and increasing transparency in educational assessment [14], [15], supporting lifelong learning [16], decentralizing the storage and sharing of learning materials [17], verifying teacher's qualifications, constructing a secure and transparent electronic voting system for educational decision-making [18], establishing a digital identity infrastructure in education [19], and supporting education funding through the use of blockchain [20]. These applications demonstrate the versatility and potential of blockchain technology in the field of education.…”
