Los medios comunitarios han alcanzado reconocimiento durante las últimas décadas en el Ecuador, mientras los avances en materia de legislación han sido considerables con la aprobación de la Ley Orgánica de Comunicación en 2019. Sin embargo, los esfuerzos por fortalecer la comunicación comunitaria aún mantienen saldos pendientes para alcanzar una eficiente redistribución del espectro radioeléctrico y democratizar la comunicación social en el país. Este estudio realiza una primera aproximación al estado del arte de la comunicación radial amazónica, contextualizando el marco histórico y normativo del proceso de adjudicación de frecuencias radiales en la región amazónica desde el 2009, enfocándose en el estudio de caso de la emisora La Voz de la CONFENAIE 99.1 FM e identificando las preferencias de la audiencia sobre la programación del medio. Durante agosto de 2022 se plantearon varias técnicas de recolección de datos como investigación documental y encuestas; los métodos utilizados fueron el analítico-sintético y el deductivo en vista que la performance de estos es ideal para este estudio. Los instrumentos utilizados fueron repositorios bibliográficos, bancos de preguntas abiertas y un cuestionario; los sujetos de estudio se conformaron por 92 participantes oyentes de la nacionalidad Kichwa en Pastaza. Se analizó la parrilla de programación del año 2023 del medio y se determinó las preferencias y percepciones de la audiencia, siendo el programa más sintonizado el noticiero informativo Alli Puncha Amazonía entre los 15 programas transmitidos. Se discutieron las perspectivas y desafíos de los medios amazónicos para proponer estrategias que contribuyan a la democratización de la comunicación y el fortalecimiento de la agenda de los medios comunitarios del país.
