“…The success of the Lejeuneaceae as epiphyllae may be due to small investment in stem biomass; complicatebilobed leaves for water retention and as catchments for microinvertebrate wastes; and large, multicellular, chlorophyll-rich spores with thin walls for rapid substrate colonization (Thiers 1988).
