“…Areas of a gudgeon, Gobio gobio L., tumour (RTLA 219-Mawdesley-Thomas & Bucke 1967) as well as some areas of several brown bullhead lesions (RTLA 2623, 2624, 2626-Harshbarger et al 1984 resemble the menhaden squamous cell carcinoma, but these lesions all appear to be more well differentiated. The authors believe a diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma is warranted for the menhaden lesion based on the derivation of the tumour from stratified squamous epithelium, the numerous atypical squamous cells, the abundance of mitotic figures and the absence of intercellular bridges between many cells.…”
