“…Although LH plays a role as the first trigger in these events, both cumulus cells and oocytes possess few or no LH receptors, and thus are insensitive to direct LH stimulation (Peng et al, 1991). It is well accepted that epidermal growth factor (EGF) stimulates oocyte maturation and cumulus expansion in mouse, rat, hamster, porcine and human (Das et al, 1992;Dekel and Sherizly, 1985;Downs, 1989;Goud et al, 1998;Hinokio et al, 2002;Prochazka et al, 2000).
