“…However, we also found that the composition ratio of hospital acquired BSIs increased significantly annually (from 73.4-76.2%). This result was consistent with the increase in various hospital-acquired infections in recent years [16,17] , and the risk factors may be related to the risk factors for BSIs and (or) hospital-acquired infections reported in many previous studies, such as ICU admission, the older age of hospitalized patients (aging population), prolonged hospital stay, leukocytopenia, acute myeloid leukemia and (or) increased use of invasive procedures including central venous catheters (CVCs) [18][19][20] . However, more details of the risk factors require further statistical analysis of the decrease in hospital-acquired BSIs in our hospital.…”

“…3 Accumulated evidence has strongly demonstrated that systemic inflammatory response, acute kidney injury (AKI) and fluid overload (FO) were associated with high mortality in severe sepsis. [4][5][6] In critically ill patients with COVID-19, the overwhelming inflammation including C-reactive protein (CRP) and interleukin (IL)-6, IL-8, IL-10, tumor necrosis factor α (TNF-α) were observed, 7-10 which is consistent with patients suffering from SARS-CoV 11 and MERS-CoV. 12 Continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) is a great help in critically ill patients not only to control of electrolyte, acid-base derangements but also to remove inflammatory mediators and improves oxygenation in fluid overload.…”

“…This was a sub-analysis of Chinese Epidemiological Study of Sepsis (CHESS) study [9] , which was a multicenter prospective cross-sectional survey performed in mainland China involving 44 hospitals, commenced on December 1, 2015 and concluded on January 31, 2016. Patients with suspected or con rmed sepsis admitted to intensive care unit (ICU) and with blood and/or any other samples from suspected infected sites sent at admittance was included in the present study.…”
