“…Nowadays, bone defects caused by accidental injuries, bone tumors, arthritis, and many other bone diseases constitute significant clinical challenges. The utilization of orthopedic implants has emerged as a promising therapeutic strategy for treating bone defects. , However, the prevalence of clinical failures in orthopedic implant treatments remains a pervasive issue, with bacterial infection and aseptic loosening being the primary complications. Clinical track reports reveal that within the failed cases of total knee arthroplasty in the United States, about 20.4% are due to bacterial infection and about 23.1% are due to aseptic loosening. , Infection is caused by the colonization of bacteria on the implant surface, fostering the development of biofilms, which are immensely resistant to the treatment of postoperative antibiotics. Aseptic loosening is associated with poor osseointegration, and the unsatisfactory osteogenic properties lead to unstable integration between the bone and implant. , The majority of failed orthopedic implant treatments necessitate subsequent revision surgeries, imposing significant physiological and financial burdens on patients . Hence, it is imperative to improve the anti-infective and osseointegration properties of orthopedic implants.…”
