Epidemiological characteristics of staphylococcal meningitis in Russian Federation

Abstract: Staphylococcal meningitis (SM) ranks fourth in the etiological structure of purulent bacterial meningitis in the Russian Federation. The most common cause of staphylococcal meningitis is Staphylococcus aureus, which accounts for 68 % of all cases.
