Epidemiologic characterization of cases of arbovirosis transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes reported in indigenous Brazilians

Abstract

This article aims to describe the epidemiological aspects of arbovirosis transmitted by mosquitoes of the genus Aedes in indigenous Brazilians. It is an epidemiologic, descriptive, quantitative, and cross-sectional study. The object of study of this research was the epidemiological aspects of dengue (2016-2021), chikungunya fever (2017-2021), and Zika (2016-2021) in Brazilian indigenous people. Data were collected from the database of the Sistema de Informação de Agravos de Notificação (Sinan) database. 13.871 cases of dengue, 2.004 cases of Chikungunya fever, and 1.239 cases of Zika were reported. The state with the highest prevalence of dengue cases is Mato Grosso do Sul, Chikungunya fever is Ceará, and Zika is Bahia. The most affected by the arboviruses studied are women with a high school education and between 20 and 59 years of age. Arboviruses were diagnosed by the criterion of clinical-epidemiologic confirmation, and cure was the most common evolution.
