Abstract

Food allergy is a common allergic disease that is defined as an antigen-specific immunological adverse reaction after exposure to a given food. 1 It affects 5% to 10% of infants and children 1,2 and 10% of adults. 3 Skin, especially inflamed skin, was shown to be one of the most important organs for sensitization to food allergens. 4 Genetic and environmental factors cause skin barrier dysfunction and skin inflammation, which promotes allergen penetration and sensitization to the food allergen in certain cases of food allergy. 5 A case-controlled study
