“…This suggests that CD may be assoc iated with an increased risk of cardiovascular outcome. There may also be an assoc iation between CD and eosinophilic esophagitis [84] . Aldolase B deficiency causes hereditary fructose intoleranc e, and this may be assoc iated with CD [85] .…”

“…In two studies, children who had undergone repeated endoscopic examinations showed recovery of their duodenal mucosa but no resolution of esophageal eosinophilia on a gluten-free diet alone, as in our case (1,2). However, Quaglietta et al (7) reported that 6 children with CD and EE who primarily had the symptoms of EE had all improved symptomatically on gluten-free diet, and 3 children's second endoscopy showed significant reduction in intraesophageal eosinophils. Studies have also shown that eosinophils may play a role in gliadininduced intestinal damage (8).…”

“…1,4 An association between EE and CD has previously been described in adult and pediatric reports. 1,6,7 Quaglietta L et al 6 reported CD in six out of 17 pediatric patients (35.2%) with EoE, and stated that histological and clinical improvement were seen after a gluten-free diet. In contrast, an increased prevalence of EoE in patients with CD has also been reported in pediatric patients.…”
