EORTC QLU-C10D value sets for Austria, Italy, and Poland

Abstract: Objective To develop Austrian, Italian, and Polish general population value sets for the EORTC QLU-C10D, a cancer-specific utility instrument based on the EORTC QLQ-C30, and to descriptively compare their index scores for distinct health states. Methods The QLU-C10D descriptive system comprises 10 health attributes and each can take on 4 levels. A standardised and pre-tested methodology has been applied for valuations including a web-based discrete choice experiment (DCE). It was administered in 1000 general p… Show more

“…Among the generic items, physical functioning reported the largest decrements followed by pain and role functioning. These findings are in line with those in Germany [ 14 ], Austria, Italy, Poland [ 26 ] and France [ 39 ]. Among the cancer-specific items, nausea reported the largest utility decrement followed by bowel problems, which mimicked the same rank order found in the Austrian valuation study [ 16 ].…”

“…For the conduct of CUAs, it is recommended to use country-specific value sets, as differences in preferences across countries might substantially alter the values obtained [21][22][23] and consequently cost-effectiveness estimates. Hence, valuation studies for the EORTC QLU-C10D have been completed, or are currently being undertaken, in numerous countries, including Canada [24], Germany [14], the United Kingdom [25], Austria, France, Italy, Poland [26], the Netherlands, the United States [14] and Singapore [27]. The current study reports on the EORTC QLU-C10D valuation in Spain.…”

“…The pre-COVID-19 data were available from another research project on health utility evaluations for EORTC QLU-C10D [ 28 , 29 ] of the Spanish general population. Recruitment took place between July 4 and July 29, 2019, and the survey was completed by N = 1010 participants.…”

“…Each dimension is described on four severity levels (level 1 = "not at all", level 2="a little", level 3="quite a bit", level 4="very much"). We used the Italian population tariff for utility calculation [39]. The measurement range for the Italian version of the QLU-C10D is 0.025-1.00, for the Australian version -0.096-1.00 and for the UK version -0.083-1.00.…”
