Enzyme Biosensors for Point-of-Care Testing

Abstract: Biosensors are devices that integrate a variety of technologies, containing biology, electronics, chemistry, physics, medicine, informatics, and correlated technology. Biosensors act as transducer with a biorecognition element and transform a biochemical reaction on the transducer surface directly into a measurable signal. The biosensors have the advantages of rapid analysis, low cost, and high precision, which are widely used in many fields, such as medical care, disease diagnosis, food detection, environment… Show more

“…The latest in detecting plant pathogens uses biosensor technology as a modern detection tool (Dyussembayev et al, 2021). This technology is widely used in environmental monitoring, the detection of pesticide residues and the realtime detection of pathogens in the world of human health (Liu et al, 2018). The biosensor is a device that integrates a biological sensing element and a physicochemical transducer to generate a specific electronic signal.…”

“…Biosensors have appeared as advanced detection tools used in many research fields including environmental monitoring, detection of airborne pathogens, real-time detection of human blood components and pathogens and pesticide residues in foods and beverages ( Liu et al, 2018 ). In this review, we refer to a biosensor as a diagnostics device, which typically integrates a biological sensing element and physicochemical transducer to generate an electronic signal when it contacts with a specific analyte of interest or pathogen in solution.…”

“… 4 Several biosensors are available in the market that are useful in health monitoring, such as glucose sensors and oxygen sensors (Clark electrode). 5 , 6 In addition, enzyme-based sensors, 7 immunosensors, 8 and pH biosensors 9 have been increasingly reported in recent years. An example is the rapid antigen testing kit for the detection of the SARS-CoV-2 virus.…”
