“…The results from different workers with a cellulase fraction of Trichoderma sp. (IMB-Tr) and Trichoderma reesei obtained 30% reducing sugars from alkali pretreated paddy straw 12 while Vlasenko et al(1997) showed the release of 37-46% sugars using 6.7% FPU/g of commercial Trichoderma reesei derived enzyme.…”

“…Vlasenko et al (1997) have found that after acid pretreatment (10% solid mater, 0.8% acid, 160°C) followed by enzyme treatment (cellulose 100 L + cellubiase) the yield of glucose was 43 g L −1 or 43% conversion of cellulose to glucose. The results in present study is slightly less than Valsenko et al (1997) reported.…”

“…The biomass is exposed to liquid ammonia or CO 2 at high temperature and pressure for a short period of time, followed by a sudden drop in pressure. Unlike steam explosion, AFEX does not solubilize hemicelluloses (Vlasenko et al, 1997) but does require recovery of the ammonia for cost and environmental reasons (Sun and Cheng, 2002). CO 2 explosion is not as effective as AFEX or steam explosion (Dale and Moreira, 1982).…”
