EnvR is a potent repressor of acrAB transcription in Salmonella

Abstract: Background Resistance nodulation division (RND) family efflux pumps, including the major pump AcrAB-TolC, are important mediators of intrinsic and evolved antibiotic resistance. Expression of these pumps is carefully controlled by a network of regulators that respond to different environmental cues. EnvR is a TetR family transcriptional regulator encoded upstream of the RND efflux pump acrEF. Methods Binding of EnvR protein u… Show more

“…Additionally, in the beta-lactam resistance, all the DEGs ( acrAB , WU75_09925 , WU75_09315 , and WU75_09310 ) were strongly up-regulated (6.699-fold to 40.366-fold) in the V. parahaemolyticus ATCC17802 treatment group ( p < 0.05), which encoded a multidrug efflux resistance nodulation division (RND) transporter periplasmic adaptor subunit and a multidrug transporter. The RND family efflux pumps, including the major pump AcrAB-TolC, are important mediators of intrinsic and evolved antibiotic resistance [ 51 ].…”
