Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) is a management concept which prescribes that organizations, rather than going head-to-head with competitors, try to create and exploit new market spaces, so-called blue oceans. Since its inception in the mid-2000s, BOS has become one of the most popular concepts in the field of strategy and one of the biggest buzzwords in the business world. This paper examines the emergence and evolution of BOS through the lens of management fashion theory. The analysis shows that the BOS concept exhibits several characteristics which makes it highly appealing to organizations and managers. In addition, the emergence of the concept was helped by a good fit with the zeitgeist in the field of strategy during the 2000s, which had shifted to a strong focus on theories and ideas about disruptive innovation and business model innovation. The popularization of the BOS concept can also be attributed to the backing of a powerful supply-side actors, and, in particular, the concept’s creators Kim and Mauborgne. While the attention given to BOS in public management discourse suggests that the concept can currently be considered highly fashionable, evidence about the concept’s use on the demand-side remains limited. Most surveys indicate that the adoption and diffusion is lower than would be expected based on the intensity of discourse surrounding the concept. Therefore, the current study provides some support for the view that supply-side and demand-side activity related to management fashions does not necessarily coevolve.

Mavi okyanus stratejileri, örgütlerin sürdürülebilir kâr elde etmek için yenilikçi şekilde düşünmelerini sağlayan stratejiler olarak ifade edilmektedir. Sağlık sektöründe mavi okyanus pazarlama stratejisi, sağlık pazarını yeniden tanımlamak için kullanılmaktadır. Mavi okyanus liderliği eylem temelli bir liderlik türü olup liderlerin kim olmaları gerektiğine değil, ne yapması gerektiğine odaklanmaktadır. Bu liderlik türü, örgütlerin karşı karşıya olduğu pazar gerçekleri ışığında etkili liderlik yapmayı sağlamaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, stratejik yönetim alanyazını için oldukça yeni bir kavram olarak ifade edilebilen mavi okyanus stratejilerini ve mavi okyanus liderliğini sağlık sektörü özelinde kavramsal olarak incelemektir. Konuyla ilgili sağlık kuruluşlarında uygulama örneklerine de bu çalışmada yer verilmektedir.

“…A estratégia do oceano azul já possui uma década de existência, seus conceitos estão sendo utilizados em diversas áreas, desde a concepção de desenvolvimento de software (BATISTA et al, 2018), avaliação de um supermercado na cidade de Campina Grande no estado da Paraíba (XAVIER et al, 2015), na melhoria da educação de médicos osteopatas, com o intuito de diferenciar e melhorar a educação tradicional de medicina na busca por melhores médicos osteopatas (SLOCUM et al, 2014), na criação de um modelo de negócios para grupos de comerciantes gregos (BOURLETIDIS, 2014), e até mesmo como direção na busca de análises de mercados juntamente com "Inteligência de Negócios", em inglês "Business Intelligence -BI" (REBÓN, 2011). As empresas buscam maior lucratividade, e para isso se diferenciar dos concorrentes e buscar mercados com menor ou nenhuma concorrência se torna fundamental para o sucesso empresarial, neste contexto surge a Estratégia do Oceano Azul, onde a sua proposta é o aumento do valor e a redução de custos gerando inovação de valor. Desta forma este artigo tem como objetivo elucidar a atual relevância do tema e esclarecer os conceitos para facilitar a compreensão da Estratégia do Oceano Azul, explorando suas definições, ferramentas e princípios, auxiliando a procura por inovação de valor e mercados inexplorados. A metodologia utilizada foi a pesquisa bibliométrica nos portais Scopus, Emerald, Anpad e Scholar.Google. Percebe-se que nos primeiros cinco anos da publicação do livro “A Estratégia do Oceano Azul: como criar novos mercados e tornar a concorrência irrelevante”, os resultados no Scholar.Google, apresentou a taxa média de crescimento de 53%, para a expressão em inglês de 2006 à 2010, com 2588 resultados e nos cinco anos posteriores, de 2011 à 2015 tivemos 4.213 resultados. No portal Anpad apenas 3 publicações. Na base Emerald 21 publicações. E no portal Scopus tivemos 115 publicações demonstrando que o tema é relevante, ainda apresentando crescimento em produções acadêmicas, se recomenda para desenvolvimento futuro a realização de pesquisas em outras bases e comparação do resultado avaliando-se outras estratégias.
