“…From the point of view of extraction of REE, wastes of mining and metallurgical production are of little importance, but they are serious sources for production of germanium, bismuth, scandium, titanium, beryllium, vanadium [21,22]. In part, metallurgical slags of lead production, along with wastes from mechanical processing of sediment materials, are the main source of obtaining germanium (as well as bismuth); applied technology -hydrometallurgy.…”

“…In this RM/furnace slag system, although the amount of the lime waste was only about 3%, the compressive strength showed a sharp increase of over 50% higher than the non-lime addition samples. Unfortunately, the reaction mechanism of the lime was NOT deeply elucidated although the authors had tested the XRD and SEM of the hydrated samples [27].…”

“…The TG results indicated that the high amount of Ca (OH) 2 in the pastes was not conducive to the continuous increase of non-evaporable water content. A big step forward of this study was that the authors used the 27 Al MAS NMR to investigate the coordination state of the Al in the hydration product phases. The results indicate that the content of Al [4] in the C-A-S-H phase remained relatively constant during the hydration progress, while the content of Al [6] in Ca 3 Al 2 O 6 •xH 2 O increased significantly with the elongation of the hydration time.…”

“…In recent years, several studies have been conducted to find eco-friendly, cost-effective alternative methods to dispose of tailings [15,16]. Thus, the need for safe environmental disposal has led to the adoption of new processes for tailings storage that limit the release of pollutants, reduce seepage, and reduce water use.…”
