Environmental Sustainability within Attaining Sustainable Development Goals: The Role of Digitalization and the Transport Sector

Abstract: Accepting sustainable development goals leads to the reorientation of all sectors at all levels. The European Union (EU) actively accepts a vast range of policies to achieve environmental sustainability due to declining carbon dioxide emissions. Within the Green Deal Policy, and in particular the Fit for 55 packages, the EU declared ambitious goals to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by at least 55% from the transport industry by 2030 and 100% by 2035. These goals require introducing appropriate digital technol… Show more

“…Based on the survey results of 131 Moroccan emigrants, the researchers conclude that emotional determinants (self-development, creativity, quality of life, traditions, religion, multicultural environment) are more influential than functional determinants (environment, infrastructure, level of economic development, innovation, social guarantees) in spreading information about the country-of-origin brand. The studies (Kwilinski et al, 2023c;2023d;2023e) outline that the connection between greenfield investment and a country's brand, as well as immigration flows, lies in the broader framework of sustainable development. Greenfield investment, with its focus on environmentally friendly initiatives, contributes to shaping a positive and sustainable national brand.…”

“…The transportation sector, as one of the major sources of global CO 2 emissions, accounts for approximately 24% of the total CO 2 emissions, with most of the emissions coming from fossil fuel vehicles [1]. To address the challenges of carbon emissions, carbon neutrality, and peak carbon, governments and numerous automakers worldwide are highly concerned about the development of low-carbon transportation.…”

“…The social and economic development is relatively lagging, and the green economic development can barely maintain the average level of the province. In this case, local governments and enterprises should actively implement a governance model tailored to the local conditions and develop a resource-saving and environmentally friendly regional economy of mutual benefit between urban and rural areas [23,38,42].…”

“…Based on systematically combing through the internal mechanism of the coordinated development of the digital economy and green development, Jiang [35], Hu [36], and Aleksy Kwilinski [37] have analyzed the balance of the coordinated development of the digital economy and green development from the dimensions of the characteristics of temporal and spatial differentiation, dynamic evolution, and convergence. Beata Gavurova [38] and other scholars have analyzed the characteristics of economic growth under the green development of OECD countries using a multivariate analytical approach. Busra Agan and Mehmet Balcilar [39] have explored the driving effects of climate change adaptation and green technology diffusion on economic growth in the process of green development.…”
