Environmental specificity in Drosophila-bacteria symbiosis affects host developmental plasticity

Abstract: Environmentally acquired microbial symbionts could contribute to host adaptation to local conditions like vertically transmitted symbionts do. This scenario necessitates symbionts to have different effects in different environments.
