Coupling and Coordination Relationship between Economic and Ecologic-Environmental Developments in China’s Key State-Owned Forest Areas

China’s key state-owned forest areas are important ecological conservation areas and its forest management belongs to several forest industry groups. Therefore, the ecological improvement and economic development of the key state-owned forest areas should be balanced. This study developed an integrated evaluation model of coupling and coordination, by employing the data of the key forest areas from 2001 to 2019, to investigate the coupling and coordination relationship between the efficiency of economic development and the level of ecological development, using the DEA model. The results suggest that the indices of ecological development in the key state-owned forest areas increased from 2001 to 2019, and especially in 2015, to a better status, due to the policy of completely stopping logging. The other finding was that the coupling degree between the efficiency of economic development and the level of ecological development was in an antagonistic stage, which showed a slow upward trend of the coupling degree and coupling coordination degree and then evolved to a medium and high coordination coupling situation. The reason was that, with the implementation of the ecological protection policy and the industrial transformation of the forest industry group, the ecological environment improved and the development of enterprises was further optimized. Moreover, this study further identified the main factors that affect the coupling and coordination degree of the key state-owned forest areas, including the proportion of tertiary industry, economic growth rate, forest park area, and investment in wildlife and plant protection and natural resource conservation areas. The factors were divided into three principal components. The most significant impact on the economic and ecological coupling coordination of the key state-owned forest areas was the first principal component, meaning that ecological improvement was the most important factor. The second principal component was mainly social coupling coordination, while the third principal component had little effect on economic and ecological coupling coordination.

Recent research has placed greater emphasis on sustainable supply chain management (SSCM), specifically within the manufacturing sector. SSCM expands upon traditional supply chain management (SCM) by taking environmental and social considerations into account. Given the sustainability challenges facing the cement industry, SSCM has become a crucial topic for companies operating in this sector. Accordingly, the aim of this study is to identify and categorize SSCM practices based on the triple bottom line (TBL) dimensions of sustainability. Additionally, the study assesses the adoption of SSCM practices by Jordanian cement manufacturers according to the developed model. There is a lack of studies focused on creating a tailored and comprehensive SSCM conceptual model to evaluate sustainability practices within cement manufacturing. Therefore, this study attempted to develop a model for SSCM practices by incorporating 23 SSCM factors divided into three dimensions of sustainability: nine factors of environmental SSCM, seven factors of social SSCM, and seven factors of economic SSCM. The study employed a quantitative research approach, using a structured questionnaire to collect data from 41 cement company managers in Jordan and industry specialists. The proposed hypotheses were tested using SPSS software. The research findings revealed that the average level of implementation for all environmental factors was at a medium level within the Jordanian cement industry, the average level of implementation for all social factors was at a high level, and the average level of implementation for all economic factors was at a medium level. Overall, the implementation of SSCM practices was found to be at a moderate level. The study also provided a detailed level of implementation for each SSCM practice for each dimension of sustainability. By identifying and categorizing SSCM practices related to the cement industry, this study addresses a gap in the literature. It also highlights critical sustainability issues for decision-makers and academics, which can aid in the evaluation and improvement of SSCM practices in the cement industry. Future studies should aim to replicate this study with larger sample sizes and probability-sampling techniques to enhance the generalizability of the results.

Measurement of CO2 Emissions Efficiency and Analysis of Influencing Factors of the Logistics Industry in Nine Coastal Provinces of China

The surge in CO2 emissions affects global climate change and the development of society. The logistics industry, being a swiftly advancing industry, demonstrates an escalating trend in CO2 emissions. Therefore, this paper selects the more developed coastal provinces (districts) in China’s logistics industry and takes 2011–2020 as the research period. Using the Super-SBM model and the Malmquist index model, the article analyzes the changes in the carbon emission efficiency of the logistics industry from the static and dynamic perspectives and then explores the factors affecting it using the panel model and the mediating effect model. Findings from research indicate that: (1) The CO2 emission efficiency of the logistics industry is generally moderate when viewed from a static perspective. (2) Taking a dynamic viewpoint, there is a slight declining trend in the overall CO2 emission efficiency. (3) As environmental regulations become more stringent, the CO2 emission efficiency follows the “U”-shaped pattern, initially declining and then rising. Environmental regulations can influence CO2 emission efficiency by affecting technological innovation. Additionally, energy efficiency plays a positive role in promoting CO2 emission efficiency. Recommendations: Implement differentiated environmental regulations tailored to local conditions. Emphasize technological innovations. Enhance the energy efficiency.
