“…The changes cannot be attributed to the dam construction at Krong No River which started some 100 years later in 2003 CE. Twentieth century human impact in the Ea Tyn catchment through land use changes should also be weaker than recorded at the much larger Bien Ho Lake (Nguyễn-Văn et al, 2022). Ea Tyn Lake is part of the Nam Kar Nature Reserve and the mountains south and north of the lake are covered by dense secondary tropical rain forest.…”

“…Several recent studies of paleoclimatic changes across Southeast Asia used tree-rings (An et al, 2012; Buckley et al, 2010; Sano et al, 2009), speleothems (Sinha et al, 2011; Zhao et al, 2015), and lake sediments (Chawchai et al, 2013; Chen et al, 2009; Ling et al, 2018). With two exceptions published only recently (Nguyễn-Văn et al, 2022; Stevens et al, 2018), there are hardly any paleoclimatic records available from lakes in Việt Nam. Paleolimnological archives can provide insight on the variability of Asian monsoon strength and intensity over time, despite spatial regional differences in monsoonal rainfall, dissimilar types of preserved paleoclimatic proxies, and various approaches to dating.…”

“…In terms of global distribution, AG is more widely distributed in tropical and subtropical regions (Davies et al., 2002; Kilham et al., 1986; Lewis, 1978; Nardelli et al., 2016; Nguyễn‐Văn et al., 2022; Pilskaln & Johnson, 1991; Wang et al., 2008, 2012). For example, the Biển Hồ Lake in tropical Vietnam has only AG and almost no AA (Nguyễn‐Văn et al., 2022). By contrast, AA is more abundant in temperate, high‐latitude lakes (Bradbury, 1988; Dean et al., 1984; Kauppila et al., 2002; Poister et al., 2012; Siver & Kling, 1997).…”
