The paper uniquely assesses the relationship between the main elements of the sustainability of the supply chain and the performance of Romanian enterprises. To identify dimensions of supply chain sustainability, a sample survey was conducted on a structured questionnaire basis among a sample of 385 Romanian enterprises represented by supply chain managers and practitioners. The hypothesis testing and the validation of the proposed construct model were achieved by using the modeling of the equation with the smallest partial squares (SEM-PLS) and multigroup analysis (PLS-MGA). The results suggest a positive and significant relationship between supply chain sustainability practices and business performance. This study provides original evidence to Romanian managers that business performance can be maximized by focusing on increasing the economic, social, and environmental sustainability of the supply chain. The results of this quantitative marketing research add to the existing literature and have far-reaching theoretical and practical implications for enterprises in the Romanian economy.

The present study aimed to investigate the impact of two of the most commonly used strategies (i.e., cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy) on the supply chain management efficiency (SCME) of companies listed in Tehran Stock Exchange (TSE). The data about 215 companies were analyzed during 2014–2021. The sale per inventory ratio was used to calculate SCME. The study focused on cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy. The results showed that cost leadership strategy and differentiation strategy have a significant and positive effect on SCME. Hypothesis testing based on the robustness checks confirmed these findings. In spite of the growing interest in supply chain management, there is little research on emerging economies compared to developed economies. There is also a significant gap of research on how business strategy could influence the performance of supply chains. The present findings will not only help company managers in developing countries, but due to the lack of similar research, they are of great help to managers in developed countries and the global community.

Climacteric fruits undergo a characteristic ripening process regulated by ethylene, a key plant hormone. Extending the shelf life of these fruits while preserving their postharvest quality poses a significant challenge for the food industry. This review provides a comprehensive overview of physiological and molecular strategies to delay ethylene-mediated ripening in climacteric fruits and their impact on shelf life, postharvest quality, sensory attributes, and volatile compounds. Additionally, it examines the role of ethylene in fruit ripening, analysing various ethylene managing strategies including ethylene inhibitors, ethylene adsorbents, and ethylene scavengers by catalytic oxidation. This review concludes with future research directions including molecular and genetic approaches for reducing ethylene production or responsiveness in fruits, integrated strategies, environmental considerations, and commercial applications for improving postharvest handling and fruit quality.
