Empirical studies reviewed serious problems of obesity epidemic regarding global aspects of food system and the current unsustainable dietary trends between food, health and environment are now being recognized. Despite livestock products provide one-third of humanity's protein intake, however they are a contributing cause of obesity and also the top two or three most significant contributors to the most serious global environmental problems that intensified negative impacts on our eco-environments and produced a substantial greenhouse gas source that driving climate change with further adverse effects on the food production systems. This paper synthesized from literatures and research studies that generated within the context of 'Sustainable Diets' is in an attempt to foster opportunities for healthful practice, choice and life-style behaviour in support of the ecological public health concept associated with connections between disease burden of obesity epidemic and its related rising NCDs under these interwoven relationships of food, health and environmental sustainability concerns. Health professionals should recognize the needs for expanding their professional roles under this paradigm shift by reconceptualizing holistic vision on global health amongst humans, animals and the planetary. Education of this evolving role as integral part of virtuous trends of dietary transition to all disciplines of nutritional health, medicine, nursing and other allied health field are indeed absolutely indispensable for supporting sustainable development in health towards the 21 st century.

The textile sector is regarded as one of the most environmentally damaging industries in the world. There are several factors that contribute to the unsustainability of textiles and clothing, including the use of hazardous chemicals, high water and energy consumption, generation of solid and gaseous waste, consumption of fuel for transportation to remote locations, and use of non-biodegradable packaging materials. Moreover, it is estimated that textile treatments such as dyeing and finishing are responsible for 20% of all water pollution. Especially textile dyes can pose significant harm to the environment and human health. Disperse dyeing of polyester requires large quantities of chemicals. Additionally, some disperse dyes contain hazardous chemicals that can cause skin irritation and respiratory problems in workers and consumers. In this study, we synthesized 7-ethylamino-3-acetylcoumarin dye using the Knoevenagel reaction, and the dyeing process of polyester fabric with the novel type of this coumarin dye was applied. The structural and chemical analyses were performed using micro-FTIR, FTIR, NMR, UV-Vis spectroscopy, and cell viability. The evaluation of the coloured fabric's fastness against washing, rubbing, and an artificial light source representative of natural daylight (D65) were also carried out using standard methods. It was found that the best result came from dyeing polyester with coumarin in an acidic condition for 45 minutes and then washing it reductively. The study provides valuable insights into the development of new dyes with improved properties and their application to fabric dyeing, which can contribute to the sustainability and environmental impact of the textile industry.

Natural fiber reinforced composites are a lightweight, affordable, and environmentally friendly replacement for many problematic applications. These natural fibers could be constructed into flexible planar materials with the aid of composite phenomena that can be used for a variety of applications where flexibility is important like as artificial leather. In this work, nonwoven matt made from spinning wastes of jute fiber was used to reinforce the biodegradable polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) matrix. The percentage of fibers within the PVA matrix was adjusted to develop the flexible planar composites. The nonwoven matt was immerged into the PVA solution casting mold with the aid of the solution evaporation approach. The flexible planar composite was then obtained through heat-induced pressing. Tensile strength, tearing strength, bending modulus, flexing endurance, abrasion resistance, and moisture management profiles of the developed flexible planar composite were assessed. Additionally, studies were performed for Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and thermogravimetric (TGA) analysis. The tensile strength has been found 7.78 N/mm2 with 9.84% elongation for a 1.2 mm thick flexible composite. The flexing endurance has been supported by no visible crack formation against 50,000 flexing cycles. The moisture management profile has been ensured by the hydrophobic surface of the composite. Developed flexible planar composite has been shown to have consistent mechanical performance for use as artificial leather, which could be appealing for the fabrication of leather-alternative bags, belts, and wallets.
