Environmental Assessment of Central European Floodplain Forests: A Case Study from the Morava River Alluvium

Abstract: Areas subject to little anthropogenic impact and with preserved river dynamics are very rare in the floodplains of large European rivers [7][8][9]. These environmentally valuable territories are usually categorized as different forms of protected areas. Particularly due to the establishment of the Natura 2000 network of nature protection areas, the number of floodplain forests thus protected in Europe has been gradually increasing. In the context of environmental assessment of Natura 2000 sites, environmental … Show more

“…Practically, these replication mechanisms have been primarily used for these research tasks [29][30][31]. The purpose of deployment of replication mechanisms for these research tasks was using an extensive spatial dataset; hence, the benefits of a distributed database network for load balancing between the master database (to write changes) and slave database (for solving analytical problems) were utilized [5].…”

“…Accordingly, the concept of "clear waters and lush mountains are mountains of gold and silver" has been put forward by the Chinese government as a guideline for environmental governance. In the process of environmental governance, the design of environmental assessment [2][3][4][5][6] is particularly important in order to effectively evaluate the efficiency of environmental governance. Environmental assessment encourages the consideration of environmental factors in planning and decision-making, ultimately leading to more environmentally compatible production activities.…”

“…Lately, the disconnection between the Dyje River level and the water regime was documented (Klimo et al 1999;Klimo & Hager 2001;Prax 2004;Menšík et al 2015). Several wetland restoration projects were approved to become financed through the EU Environment Programme to protect the area (Penka et al 1985(Penka et al , 1991Klimo et al 1999;Klimo & Hager 2001;Hřib & Kordiovský 2004;Filippovová & Pohanka 2019). The restoration took two courses -controlled flooding and restoration of water channels.…”
