Historiography reveals many visible and latent facts and opinions about how the history of communities and regions and the evolution of their social, environmental, economic, and political systems (SEEPS) are constructed according to the historian's perspective. This paper aims to provide a content analysis on how the historical construction of the discourse of the SEEPS effectively addressed the issues - especially in the textual and historical construction found in a historical text titled The Cultural Roots of the Pesalai Society, authored by S.A. Miranda. The book narrates the arrival and operation of the Western Colonizers resulting in the consequent socio-political transformation in the local community, changes in religious, cultural, and national identities and the ultimate evolution of new changes in the SEEPS. This content analysis focuses on establishing the relationships between the social, political, and environmental systems in the historical discourse of the book and assessing the historiographical representation of the SEEPS and the controlling factors in constructing the history of the Pesalai village and the Mannar District. The text combines integrated SEEPS providing governance-centric, anthropocentric, and eco-centric perspectives, while a theocentric discourse dominates the text. The book presents the information chronologically and thematically. This paper assesses the author's historical construction to study the impacts of the human-nature interface and natural and human-made changes related to the village system comparable to the whole district. It reveals the challenges and the creation of hybrid and multiple-use social and environmental systems, the interaction of the societal relationships with nature, and the village systems aligned to the political and social systems. The discourse reveals an attempt at reconciling a perennial conflict or competition of sustainable SEEPS against each other.

The implementation of environmental education in the world is affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, so researchers must be responsive, adjust and creative strategies to survive, and think about future anticipations. The focus and concern of researchers towards the theme of environmental education and COVID-19 is highly expected, as evidenced by the research results published in reputable journals. The purpose of this systematic literature review was to review and compare investigations of research on articles published by Scopus indexed journals. We used the phrase “environmental education and COVID-19” in the disbursement menu in Scopus Database and found 1379 articles. Furthermore, only 21 articles met the criteria to be analyzed. The inclusion and exclusion model used is PRISMA. There has been a trend of increasing publications in the last four years. Environmental education issues can be approached through qualitative, quantitative, mix-method, case studies, and R&D. The authors most in the spotlight are Lowan-Trudeau, G. (reference), Aristovnik, A. (bibliographic coupling), and Mehmood, R. (co-citation). The keywords that are mostly used by the author are COVID-19, education, higher education, and sustainable development. This environmental education keyword has branches into climate change, sustainable development, and adaptation. There are 22 countries of origin of authors who published articles, dominantly from the United States and the Republic of Korea. Articles are published equally by authors from Europe, Asia, and America. It was found that there were more articles published in collaboration between universities within one country and between countries. Rarely are articles written by a single author. There are 20 institutions that provide funding for research and publications. Most publications have fulfilled one of the ethics by declaring funding status. We succeeded in formulating and discussing a description of the existence of environmental education during the COVID-19 pandemic. These findings can serve as a consideration or baseline for researchers to study environmental education and COVID-19 themes according to their respective backgrounds and objectives.

Innovative environmental technologies such as solar energy, hydroelectricity, waste-to-energy, and rainwater reuse sources have the potential to completely transform the modern world to reduce climate change and dependency on fossil fuels. This study aims to investigate the role of environmental innovative technologies on customers' experiences of hotels with a mediating role of sustainable intelligence. The study theorizes that environmental innovative technologies enhance customers ‘experience and attitude towards hotels. The innovation diffusion theory is utilized as a main theoretical framework to address the research problem. The data was collected from tourists/visitors at top hotels with a usable sample size of 222 respondents. Survey results reveal that innovative technologies in the context of Environmental Responsibility and Economic Responsibility have a significant influence on Pro-Environmental Behaviour with the full mediating role of Sustainable Intelligence. These findings have important implications when implementing innovative technologies in the tourism industry to (1) improve customer satisfaction, experience, and attitude towards the hotels and destinations; (2) provide guidelines in tourism development policy and marketing; (3) help government agencies to effectively use pro-environmental technologies to change consumer attitude. After the investigation, some intriguing theoretical and practical conclusions have been made.
