“…The effect was greatly exacerbated after 96 and 120 h of exposure, which were shown to be inadequate for seeds belonging to this species. Similar results were obtained by Pedroso et al (2010) and Tunes et al (2012b) in Triticum aestivum L. and Brassica oleracea L. var.…”

“…According to Marcos Filho (1999), the increase in temperature is one of the factors contributing to accelerated seed deterioration, according to the basic principles of the accelerated aging test. Pedroso et al (2010), in their analysis of T. aestivum seed performance in the accelerated aging test at 42 °C over 48, 72, and 96 h, observed a reduction in germination rate after aging, indicating that the procedure using the exposure of 96 h is not the most adequate for this species. This adverse effect is also confirmed in the present study of H. undatus seeds, which is indicated by the decrease in SGI and increase in MGT in seeds exposed for 96 h in an aging chamber.…”

“…f) Accelerated ageing was evaluated using four replicates of 50 seeds per repetition. The seeds were disposed over a wire mesh attached to the interior of germination boxes (gerbox), which contained a blade of 40 mL of saturated saline solution (Pedroso et al, 2010). Saturated saline solution was composed of 110 g NaCl L -1 and the germination boxes containing the seeds were maintained at an incubator at 43ºC for 48 hours (Lima et al, 2006).…”
