Entropy Method of Road Safety Management: Case Study of the Russian Federation

Abstract: Within the framework of this paper, the author’s entropy method of road safety management in large-sized systems is considered. The road safety management system in the Russian Federation, the largest country in the world, was selected for this case study. The purpose of the article is to present the opportunities and methodology of the use of quantitative assessments of the orderliness of the road accident rate formation process in regional transport systems for road safety management. Orderliness, in other w… Show more

“…In addition, the EW method can make full use of raw data information and capture the implicit interaction between each factor, to determine the weight of each factor [ 8 ]. Thirdly, the EW method has been successfully applied in many studies, such as environmental assessment [ 11 ], water quality assessment [ 50 ], energy [ 8 ], and road safety management [ 52 ].…”

“…The method of a quantitative assessment of relative entropy H n RSS of the road accident rate formation process was developed in 2017 by the authors from Tyumen Industrial University and is presented in (Kolesov and Petrov, 2017). The most complete current state (2022) of research on that issue is presented in (Petrov, 2022).…”

“…The term "entropy" was first proposed by the German physicist Clausius in 1865 as a measure of uncertainty that can be used to indicate the degree of order in a system [39,40]. When the index values of selected indicators differ greatly, it means that the index contains more effective information and a smaller entropy value, and the corresponding weight is larger [41,42]. If the difference between the index values of the selected index is small, it means that the index contains less effective information, a large entropy value, and a small corresponding weight.…”
