Recent and rapid vertical integration and rationalization within the agricultural sector provides a dynamic setting for scholars to investigate entrepreneurship theory and practice. We identify three key contextual dimensions of the agricultural sector; identity, family, and institutions, which provide promising opportunities for future research and the potential to contribute to and extend current theoretical and empirical analyses of entrepreneurship research.

The issue of disinvesting and the exiting of a company from a business regardless of their performance is of a critical importance for its further activities. The attention of researchers is more focused on the buyer's side of the story than the seller since the acquisition implies a growth that is equated with success, and sales are usually perceived as a failure without noticing the potential positive consequences for the seller. Exiting the core business by implementing a repositioning strategy can bring a significant strategic change for the enterprise, as well as being a continuation for the enterprise as well as for the entrepreneur of the previous successful business. By presenting a case study this paper analyses the possible causes and questions the justification for the implementation of the repositioning strategy in three selected Croatian companies (Adris Group d.d., Lura Group d.o.o. and Jolly Jbs d.o.o.) that through the process of mergers and acquisitions appear in the role of sellers, and by doing that they exited their core business that helped them gain a high level of customer recognition and business reputation among competitors and associates. The analysis provides insight into a seldom-analyzed application of the repositioning strategy of Croatian companies and it contributes to a better understanding of disinvestment and the impact of the repositioning strategy on the company's performance.

A high proportion of nascent entrepreneurs do not make it to an operational venture. Even though entrepreneurial exit decisions occur more frequently than many think, the literature on entrepreneurial discontinuance is not much developed. The paper fi rst examines whether factors infl uencing early-stage discontinuance diff er in the Czech Republic in comparison with Western countries. Second, it contributes to existing theories on nascent entrepreneurial activity of "modest majority" low-growth businesses by focusing on the role of expectations in discontinuance decisions. A sample of nascent entrepreneurs was interviewed in 2011 and then in two follow-up waves in 2012 and 2013. Building on hubris theory of entrepreneurship and theory of performance thresholds, the paper discusses subjective decision-making about entrepreneurial launch and exit. The results show that people with higher industry experience are more likely to discontinue from nascent entrepreneurship, a fi nding contrasting most research in Western countries. The paper also provides added value in relating growth aspirations to solo vs. team entrepreneurship. Solo entrepreneurs with high initial expectations were found more likely to discontinue from their eff orts, whereas teams disbanded more often in case of low-ambition plans on new venture.
