Abstract:Resumo Em 1872, os Munduruku aderiram à missão do Bacabal, fundada pelo Frei Pelino de Castrovalva, no rio Tapajós. A expectativa do missionário era catequizá-los e civilizá-los, de modo a fazê-los detestar a “vida selvagem” e construir “a cidade dos Munduruku”.
