The species R. neglectus and R. robustus are important vectors, particularly in Brazil, since they are widely distributed among Brazilian states (Gurgel-Gonçalves et al 2012) and have been found to be infected with T. cruzi (Aguilar et al 2007;Silistino-Souza et al 2013). R. nasutus is considered to be of secondary importance in the transmission of T. cruzi (Alencar 1987), and R. montenegrensis and R. domesticus are vectors of the protozoan T. rangeli (Steindel et al 1991;Meneguetti et al 2014); the latter species has been to be found infected by T. cruzi in the Brazilian states of Santa Catarina and São Paulo (Schlemper et al 1985).…”

“…Currently, 65 triatomine species have been identified in Brazil ) and were found to be involved in the transmission of Chagas disease, highlighting Triatoma infestans, Panstrongylus megistus, Triatoma brasiliensis, Triatoma sordida, Triatoma pseudomaculata, and Rhodnius neglectus (Dias and Schofield, 1998;Silistino-Souza et al, 2013).
