Abstract: As maiores produções foram obtidas em terra arenosa. Nas terras roxa e roxa-misturada, também se conseguiram boas produções. Já na região representada pela terra massapé as produções foram fracas, confirmando os resultados dos anos anteriores. (*)Recebido para publicação em 10 de setembro de 1957.

Reactions of Spanish‐Valencia, Virginia bunch, and runner peanut varieties and strains to wet and dry growing periods were studied during three growing seasons, 1959 to 1962, in the western part of the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. During the three wet seasons Spanish—Valencia peanuts made better use of excess moisture at high temperatures than did the other two groups. Virginia bunch and runner varieties and strains reacted similarly and rather uniformly within each group during these three growing periods. Excess moisture influenced the development of these two groups negatively. During the dry seasons the productivity of Spanish‐Valencia peanuts was below that of the other two groups when the planting date was early enough to avoid extreme conditions. The Virginia bunch peanuts maintained their wet‐season growing pattern in the dry seasons of 1960 and 1961 with a slight yield advantage for the dry season crops. This peanut group was less affected by either moisture or temperature unless very low rainfall and temperatures exceeded the adaptability of this group. This was demonstrated by experiments made during the dry season of 1962. The runner peanuts fell into two groups on the basis of the dry season experiments, one group reacting like Spanish—Valencia peanuts, the other like Virginia bunch peanuts. Genetical background and a higher sensitivity to temperature differences were suggested as the main causes for this reaction pattern.

No presente trabalho são relatados os resultados das experiências que constituem a décima segunda e décima terceira séries de ensaios de variedades de amendoim instaladas em Campinas, Ribeirão Prêto e Presidente Prudente, em 1955/56 e 1956/57. Das 10 variedades que entraram era competição, a Paulista-269 é a que se tem destacado, tanto pela produção de vagens como pelo teor em óleo, não obstante outras também terem se mostrado promissoras, tais como Bandeirante-263, Centenário-264, Brasília-265 e Virgínia-266. A variedade Tatuí-76 também se tem revelado bem produtiva e com bom rendimento em óleo, enquanto a Tatu-53, a mais difundida entre nossos lavradores, tem sido uma das piores em competição.

Neste trabalho são apresentados os resultados de três anos de melhoramento do amendoim comum (Arachis hypogaea L). Por meio da seleção de progenies pôde-se comparar a produtividade e o rendimento em óleo de variedades recém-introduzidas e de outras variedades, que em ensaios anteriores tinham se revelado promissoras. Os ensaios foram conduzidos em localidades diferentes: Campinas, Ribeirão Prêto e Presidente Prudente. As variedades mais produtivas foram a B-33 e a C-42, vindo em seguida a "Spanish 2B". As variedades mais ricas em óleo foram a C-42 e a "Spanish 2B". Considerando a produção de óleo por hectare, a C-42 e a B-33 foram as melhores, a "Spanish 2B" se colocando logo a seguir. A variedade Roxo foi a pior de tôdas, sob êsses pontos de vista. As progênies não mostraram diferença nos anos normais de 1953-54 e 1954-55; no ano de 1955-56, que foi desfavorável, destacaram-se a C-42-2, a B-33-11 e a Ro-5. Tôdas as variedades deram maiores produções médias no espaçamento de 60 cm entre linhas, demonstrando ser êste o melhor espaçamento.
