Enjeux psychosociaux du don de sperme: le point de vue des couples

Abstract

Le débat national suscité en France à l'occasion de la révision des lois de bioéthique a porté en partie sur l'anonymat du don des gamètes. En effet, si nous nous focalisons uniquement sur le don de sperme, de nombreux avis émis prônent, à des degrés différents, une ouverture relative du statut actuel de l'anonymat du donneur de sperme. Cependant, qu'en est-il des couples impliqués dans une démarche de don ? Que souhaitent-ils ? Quels changements de pratiques sont survenus pour les couples receveurs de don au sein des pays ayant opté pour une levée de l'anonymat du donneur ? Notre article présente une partie des résultats d'une recherche psychosociale récente portant sur un échan-tillon significatif de la population des couples demandeurs en France. Les résultats portent aussi bien sur le vécu et l'intention du partage du secret de la conception par don de sperme, que sur le cadre spécifique de ce type de don et des principes qui le définissent du point de vue législatif en France. Enfin, nous interrogeons les principes organisateurs de leurs prises de position sur l'anonymat du don ainsi que la convergence des stratégies parentales dans des cadres légis-latifs divergents, à la lumière de la littérature scientifique internationale. Mots clés Don de sperme · Stratégie parentale · AnonymatAbstract The French national debate, which took place during the review of bioethical laws, concerns the issue of anonymity of gametes donations, among other questions. More specifically, the debate was focused on sperm donations in which numerous arguments have advocated for a partial opening of sperm donor's anonymity. But what about couples who are implicated in donation programs?What do they want? What sort of practical changes occur for receiving couples in countries which take away the donor's anonymity? Our article presents some results of recent social psychological research conducted on a significant sample of French receiving couples. Results focus as much on their experience and their intention to share the secret of conception through sperm donation, as on specific aspects of this type of donation and its defining legislative principles in France. Finally, we question the organizing principles of their stand regarding donator's anonymity and the convergence of parental strategies in dissident legal frameworks, through the lens of international scientific literature.

As such, our findings resonate with other qualitative studies showing the partner’s concerns regarding obligations linked to the donation that may affect their family in the future [ 27 , 28 ]. The donors in our study had not told their own children because of their young age but expressed concerns about how their own children would react when they were told.…”
